About Prime Light and I

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is David Jenkins and have been involved in photography for over twenty five years. It is a real passion of mine and I enjoy sharing my work with anyone who will take the time look. Living in Nanuet, New York, I am in the heart of the lower Hudson Valley I have an intimate relationship with the area.

I am in search of light.

I am in search of the emotional connection that I get and that of the viewer. Through my images I would like for people to stop and just look at the beauty and grace that the world gives them. To just take a few moments out of their busy lives and enjoy the splendor.Form and texture along with the light are the hallmarks of my work and when I get a positive response from the viewer, I know I have succeeded.

Gaining insight from the works of masters like Ansel Adams, John Sexton, Edward and Brett Weston, David Muench and Galen Rowell, I have studied them and through their knowledge have been able to create my own style and approach to a scene.

Every image is a journey in vision and perception and it doesn't stop at the release of the shutter.

Although I shoot mainly digital images now, I approach a scene like I was still shooting color and Black & White film. It is when I get the image into the digital or wet dark room, the magic happens. I am then able to extract the little nuances that will bring the photograph alive and into its' own.

When I feel the need I will load up some TMax 100 or Tri X and head out.
